No one won the “Where in the Woods Am I?” game for Sherwood Forest Park in January 2013 given these verbal clues and the following gallery of photos:
“Once again, the Maine outdoors has lifted my spirits after a bout of sickness. On Saturday, I got that awful stomach bug that’s going around (something that I’d rather not describe). Fortunately, it was a 24-hour thing. So by Sunday, I could at least stray from the bathroom long enough to get some fresh air in a nearby park (Bangor area). The loop trail I explored was pretty short, but it got me out of the sickbed, and I even spent some time with a golden-crowned kinglet, a tiny bird with a striking orange and yellow cap (identified later with an Audubon field guide). It was a bit cold — 19 degrees Fahrenheit, with a wind that made it feel like 4 degrees Fahrenheit — but for most of the icy trail, I was sheltered by a variety of trees (birch, white pine, beech). See if you can figure out what small forest I explored in the Bangor area by viewing the photo gallery below. Winner gets an internet high five and a mention in the updated post.
P.S. If anyone tells you that they’ve had a stomach bug recently (or an illness resembling a scene from “The Exorcist”) avoid that person. Cover your face and walk in the oposite direction. Or run.”
