Take a great winter photo? “On the Water” contest is open for submissions

Great Pond Mountain Conservation Trust recently announced a photo contest for their 2016 “On the Water” calendar. They’re inviting amateur and professional photographers alike to submit their favorite photos taken this year on or around lakes, ponds (even beaver ponds) or rivers in Bucksport, Orland, Verona Island or Dedham.

Did you take photos this winter while ice fishing, skating, snowmobiling or skiing at a local lake or river? Are you planning on photographing your upcoming canoeing and fishing trips? That’s the sort of thing the trust is looking for. Images can be waterscapes, flora and fauna, or people having fun on the water (or ice) in all seasons.

The trust will have monthly prize drawings—including GPMCT items and gift certificates to Wahl’s Dairy Port—just for entering. Winning photos will be entered for a larger prize drawing at the end of the year.

To enter, e-mail up to eight photos to info@greatpondtrust.org by the end of March for winter images. Images with good resolution are most likely to be chosen for the large calendar photos. For information, call 469-6929 or visit www.greatpondtrust.org.
