Where in the woods am I? Green Lake Nature Trails

Kat Montminy (via Facebook) won the “Where in the woods am I?” game for the Green Lake Nature Trails in Ellsworth in October 2015 given the following clues and photos:

Usually I get my hiking ideas from guide books, land trust brochures or online. Sometimes people send me suggestions via email or Facebook. (Those are always welcome.) But my most recent hiking adventure was different.

About a month ago, while driving back from Mariaville Falls Preserve, I spotted a kiosk beside the road — the type of kiosk that usually marks a trailhead. So I pulled over and discovered that the kiosk displayed a trail map. After taking a photo of the map, I continued home, filing away the hiking location for a later date.

With my dog, Oreo, I returned to the trailhead last Friday to explore the trails for this week’s “1-minute hike” video and story. By viewing the photos below, see if you recognize this hiking location. Leave your best guesses in the comment section at the bottom of the page. (Winner gets a high five and a mention in the updated post.) And as always, if you like the looks of this wilderness walk, stay tuned for tomorrow’s “1-minute hike” video and trail description.
