Where in the Maine woods am I? Young Tunk Mountain

No one won the “Where in the Maine woods am I?” game for Young Tunk Mountain in February 2016 given the following clues and photo gallery (which doesn’t really surprise me, as the trail is new… in a way.):

What do you do on Valentine’s Day in Maine when it’s 6 degrees Fahrenheit with a windchill deep in the negative numbers? You drag your sweetheart outside to snowshoe up a mountain, of course!

OK. So maybe it wasn’t the most romantic date. It was what someone in my family (who will go unnamed) calls “booger freezing” weather. But my husband and I bundled up, stuffed heat packs in our mittens and boots, and made the most of it. Plus, I tried my best to choose a good hike for the situation: a short trail with a steady incline to warm us up, and a beautiful view at the top of the mountain to reward us for braving the cold.

Do you recognize where we hiked by viewing the photo gallery below? Leave your best guesses in the comment section at the bottom of the page. Winner gets a high five and a mention in the updated post. And if you like the looks of this snowshoe (or just want to watch Derek and I freeze our butts off), stay tuned for tomorrow’s “1-minute” video and writeup on the Valentine’s Day adventure.
