Find deals on gear at annual ski sale in Bangor, Oct. 15

I always enjoy a good sale, especially when it includes quality outdoor gear. If you’re like me, then you might want to check out the annual Penobscot Valley Ski Club sale, scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Bangor Parks and Recreation Building at 647 Main Street in Bangor.

It’s one of the biggest ski sales in the area, and admission is free!

Find discounted skis, apparel and more

skisale2016NORDIC-1024x791The sale includes alpine and nordic skis, boots, snowboards, poles, goggles, helmets and more. Both used and new gear will be available for sale, and mounting services will be available. A number of outfitters attend this event to get rid of old models, gear that’s never been used at discounted prices. And there will also be a great selection of used skis, being sold on consignment for Bangor-area residents.

If you’re new to skiing or snowboarding, don’t worry. There will be many PVSC volunteers on hand to help people select the right gear.

Sell your old gear to neighbors

BDN reporter Aislinn Sarnacki skis on the AMC trails to Gorman Chairback Wilderness Lodge near Greenville during the winter of 2010-11.

If you’d like to get rid of some of your old winter gear, bring it to the Bangor Parks and Recreation Building at 647 Main Street in Bangor between 5 and 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14. You can enter these items into the sale. If you aren’t a PCSC member, entering gear into the sale will cost $1 per item; then you name your price and the club will attempt to sell it for you for a 15 percent commission.

Side note: The club no longer accepts straight (older “straight” as opposed to “shaped”) downhill skis.

Unsold items must be reclaimed after the sale, between 6 and 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15. Items that are not claimed by 7 p.m. will be donated to charity. Click here for the PVSC Consignment Registration Form. (Save the form first to your computer and then complete it, otherwise you may lose what you’ve written.)
